Hello boys and girls!

We are rehearsing the play Goldilocks. Luna is Goldilocks and she has to learn more lines. I think the rest of the students can learn their lines in class, but they can check this link at home if they want. The difference is that in this video they eat porridge and in our play we say soup. http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/es/short-stories/goldilocks-and-the-three-bears

Apart from that we are studying feelings and emotions. In our lesson last Friday students had to take a flashcard and mime the feeling represented on the card. They did a good job.

We also went over the prepositions. Students were given instructions for a drawing. They had to draw several objects and animals in a given position on the paper. I think they enjoyed this activity and did very nice drawings.

HOMEWORK

Here is a list of feelings:

1.Excited

2.Hungry

3.Angry

4.Surprised

Read what these children say.

Harry says: Look at that hamburger!

Jenny says: Tomorrow is my birthday and I have a birthday party!

Beth opens a present and says: Oh! It 's a red dress!

Keith says: Brian is stupid. He doesn't want to play with me.

Who is hungry?
Who is excited?
Who is surprised?
Who is angry?

Last Friday we started working on a new topic. It´s Feelings and Emotions. Some of the students already knew many of the words we studied. Because of that they paid little attention to the words they did not know and when it came time to play Olympic Games, none of them remember the wordsÑ

excited, sick, miserable, shocked, confused, fine

the other words we are studying and that most of the students already know areÑ

happy, sad, angry, scared, nervous, tired, bored, surprised

To practice all of them we used flashcards and students played teacher and show them to other students.

We also watched a video and practiced the song. Students did very well with the song and each one of them sang a part and got points for it. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4WNrvVjiTw

HOMEWORK

Read the story and answer the questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqXX3yyvGI0

1.When does the girl in the book feel hungry?

2.When do the children in the book feel happy?

3.When does the boy in the book feel scared?

4.When does the boy in the book feel sorry?

Now, make a picture of yourself feeling sick.

Alvaro brought some very nice pictures of him, his brother and Beautiful. It seems they had a very good time together.

Last Friday we started rehearsing our play: Goldilocks. We could only do it once because the actors and actresses have not learned yet how to listen to the director of the play and keep moving around changing the furniture and making far too much noise.

These are their roles: Goldilocks is Luna, Baby Bear is Alvaro, Raúl is Father Bear, Irene, Mather Bear and Alejandro is Grandpa Bear.

We also did some more exercises on the topic of house and furniture. Each students was given a picture of a room, but they had to hide it from their classmates. We wrote 3 lists of words on the board: things in the kitchen, things in the living room and things in the bedroom. Students had to guess the things that were in their classmates' pictures and ask questions: Is there a washing machine in your kitchen? or Is there an armchair in your living room? or Is there a desk in your bedroom?
We also did a listening: students had to listen to instructions and color a living room in their worksheet. This way we went over the prepositions of place too. Instructions were sentences as: the table next to the sofa is yellow.

HOMEWORK

Here is a fun memory game for you:http://www.eslgamesplus.com/furniture-vocabulary-memory-game-for-esl-practice/

Later, make the pictures of the things you remember and write the word under the picture.

Irene brought some great pictures of her with Beautiful engaged in various activities. Good job, Irene!
This week Beautiful is spending it with Luna, I am sure they are both having a wonderful time together.

Last Friday we were studying the rooms in the house and the furniture we usually have in each room.

We studied the following words:

Kitchen: fridge, cooker, sink, cupboards,

Bathroom: toilet, sink, bath, shower.

Living room: sofa, armchair, TV stand, bookcase.

Dining room: table and chairs.

Bedroom: bed, bedside table, wardrobe, desk, shelf.

Laundry room: washing machine.

We watched a video and sang the song. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUTxbewGGis

Later students were given a worksheet with the picture of a house with its rooms and they had to cut out the items of furnitur, glue them in the right place and read the names of each item.

Students must be able to say sentence like: In the living room there is a sofa and a TV stand. Or

There is desk in my bedroom.

HOMEWORK
1/Say: What is there in your bedroom?

2/ Go to this link and do Ex. 2. Then write the answers on a piece of paper.http://www.englishexercises.org/makeagame/viewgame.asp?id=7027

We had a very emotional class last Friday and it was the Dragon's fault. Because now we have a mascot, which is a dragon who came flying from the US.

We were thinking of a name for our dragon and there were many suggestions, but finally the one that all the children voted for was the name suggested by Luna: Beautiful Dragon. I think we'll call him Beautiful for short

After naming the dragon, we reviewed the place prepositions, which students seem to know quite well already. But as we want to continue using them, so we don't forget them, we started to study the rooms in the house - which most students know already - kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, dining room, garage and laundry room and also some of the furniture and things we have in each of those rooms.

Each student made a picture of one of the rooms and then wrote the name of the most important things in the room. Ra'ul, for instance, made a kitchen with a cooker, a fridge and a sink. Irene made a living room, with a sofa, a bookcase and a TV. Luna, a bathroom, with a toilet, a bath and a sink. Alvaro made a dining room with a table, chairs and a lamp. And Alejandro made a bedroom, with a bed and a wardrobe.

Then, we listened to a recording: students had to follow the directions and put each thing in the right place on a picture. Students must remember that when we listen to a recording they must be very quiet so they can understand everything.

We are planning a new play: Goldilocks. We have a little problem, because all the boys want to be Baby Bear. It is not decided yet.
This time, Irene got to take Beautiful home with her for the week. Luna and Irene, who had behaved very well during the whole class were the only candidates this time. They threw a die and Irene wan. But next week it will be Luna's turn.

Homework
Make a picture of your bedroom or another room. Then say where 4 things are. Example:
The bookcase is next to the window.
The shelf is over the bed.
The book in on the bed.
The teddy bear is on the shelf.

10th October

Hello children!

Last friday, Begoña couldn't come to class so Chus was the teacher.

We practised questions like What's your adress? What's the weather like? When is your birthday? and so on.  All of you answered the questions correctly. Good job!

Then, we practised prepositions. In his/her turn, each student said, for example, the ball is under the box, the ball is behind the box... and the other children had to take the right card.  I think you have learnt prepositions very well.

After the break, we sang the prepositions song! We sang in two groups: boys,  girls and the chorus... everybody!! It was very funny, wasn't it? You have the link on the blog.

Finally, we did a listening and a worksheet. We revised There is/ There are sentences.
Is there a ruler on the table? Yes, there is.
Are there eighteen fish on the board? No, there aren't.

HOMEWORK

Look at the picture.,

Make 5 sentences like this: The bear is between the hippo and the elephant.
Use the words next to, in front of, on, between, behind.

Hello!

In our last lesson I asked students where they live. I said: Where do you live? And they said: I live in Leganes. All but Alejandro, who doesn't live in Leganes. Then I asked them: What's your address? This question is not new, we studied it last year, but it's good to revise it because most students were not sure how to say their address anymore.

Remember: Jennifer's address is  10, Alamo Street.

We continued practicing place prepositions. Each student took a card and without showing it to his/her classmates, took Jennifer, who was playing with us, and put her somewhere in the position indicated by the card. The other students had to guess, say things like: Jennifer is in front of the board. Or Jennifer is behind the bin.

We watched a couple of videos with songs to learn the prepositions and this is the one students like the best:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYerFOnPxu8

Later students drew some objects in boxes; the boxes were placed on top of another or next to one another. In the second part of the exercise students had to ask a partner: Where is ball in your picture? and answer: The ball is under the bike or the ball is next to the bike.
I think some of the students tricked and instead of asking they copied their partner's picture, which is not a very nice thing to do.

Homework
Watch the video above and learn the song. Then, answer 3 questions:

Where is the rose?

Where is the C?

Where is the snake?

Welcome back boys and girls! Nice to see you.

In our first lesson we were reviewing some questions we learned last year, like What are your parents' names? Most of the children remembered and gave a correct answer. Then we talked about the summer and students made a picture of a place they had visited during the summer. We practiced words like beach, trees, the sea. Luna had been in Cabárcenos, so she drew some animals. She had seen many animals.

We started the course learning some place prepositions so students are able to say where things are.
We studied the words: in, on, under, behind, into, out of, in front of. We played and practiced those words with flashcards first and then students gave each other instructions on where to put a glue-stick.

Important things to remember:

Where

Where is the banana?

Where were you in the summer?

Put the glue-stick on the table or in the box.

Homework

1/Go to this linkhttp://www.eng lishexercises.org/makeagame/viewgame.asp?id=2354 and do Ex. 1. Only a, b, c, f, g and h.  It's easy because those are the same flashcards we used in class.

2/Look at this picture:

Where is the ball?

Where is the chair?

Where is the cat?

Where is the book?
